Artemisia Gentileschi’s show at London’s National Gallery opens in October.
Its catalogue is the first full monograph ever to be published on the artist was one of the greatest painters of the Italian Baroque. Her works are full of theatricality and dramatic immediacy. Many of them show off biblical and mythological heroines with a kind of reckless excitability.
